“How have you dealt with fitting in to New Zealand ?”
"For me, it helps if I am less Russian and more Kiwi I think.”

“What do you do?”
“I work in a law firm.”
“How long are your breaks?”
“Not long enough.”
“Are you half Asian?”
“People eventually ask that question, yeah half Caucasian”

“What time do you get up every morning to get to work?”
“6 a.m”

“What do you like best about him?”
“He looks after me.”
“What do you like best about her?”
“I couldn’t put all of it into one sentence.”

“I’m from Pukekohe, but my wife and I now live just outside San Francisco.”
“Where abouts?”
“Oakland.”
“Yeah I know Oakland. You guys didn’t wanna venture to London like most kiwi adults?”
“We did. For about a year. Then we couldn’t do it anymore. It was cold, shitty weather. The people there were quite grumpy too, they just looked to start something, you know.”
“Yeah I’ve heard, so.. you reckon Auckland has changed much since 2002?”
“Yea housing prices and rent have gone up. There’s a few more shops and shopping centers then I remember, but .. not really. We have a son now and we’re thinking about coming back.”
“How come?”
“Dunno, these public school shootings in the states. They’re a bit scary to think about.. Or we might just send him to a private school.”

“You some kind of romantic?”
“I’m trying to be.”

“I work at a slaughterhouse. Been there for about four months”
“What’s that like?”
“It’s pretty ugly at first aye. But then you get used to it. Its a job. I’m just trying to get paid like everyone else.”

“Asians here don’t really know what to do with me. I’m Brazilian Japanese and been living here for two years. But it’s alright, I get by - Victor Ikeda.

“In Italy, it’s a different culture, when we greet family, friends or even co-workers. We kiss or hug. But here in New Zealand, it’s almost like nobody touch you. People shouldn’t be afraid to be human you know.” ó with Stefania Barbalace.

“You look like a man who lives life to the full. What’s your advice for others in their twenties?”
“Get a degree.”

“I like what you’re doing. Whenever I see crowds walk in the city I always think, they’ve all got their own stories. Here’s mine: I’m the kiwi Jason Statham.”

“In Venezuela, we lived under communist dictatorship. I was a chemical engineer and I only get paid $200 every month. I did not want to go to America so I come New Zealand to look for better opportunity. This country I like very much. I have been here for five months, for now I work doors to get money. Always I look for better job. All I want is to support my family.”
